Things could have been worse, all things considered. His Tirtuga could have bitten someone, Denar could have flooded the house; hell, Orion could have picked a fight with a swarm of wild Beedrill and Jason wouldn’t have been surprised. But Cetus sitting on the roof glowering down at him with Orion standing besides Jason on the ground, snickering quite loudly as Jason stared in both confusion as well as feeling rather impressed. Jason couldn’t have been too sure how the fossil Pokémon had gotten out there — he’d only been inside for half an hour while he made and ate lunch after feeding them, and came out shortly after to find Denar staring in confusion up on the roof. Jason could have expected almost anything — a bunch of flying types on the roof, something had been dropped; hell, Che could have believed it more if Orion was on the roof instead — however came to find Cetus staring back down at him. The Prototurtle seemed quite comfortable up there, and white Jason knew falling from such a short distance of fifteen or so feet wouldn’t hurt the Pokémon too bad if he withdrew into his shell, he was still slightly panicking at the thought of the Pokémon from falling from such a height. ”You can’t stay up there forever, you know,” Jason called up to the small Pokémon with his hands on his hips and looking fiery similar to a mother scorning their child. Cetus did not verbally respond; merely huffing and shaking his head. Jason glared. “What,” Jason asked, “you expect me to come all the way up there to get you?” Cetus nodded triumphantly. ”Let me guess,” Jason huffed in return, “you’re gonna bite me if I try t’ get up there, right?” Cetus seemed to think for a very long moment — and again nodded, although a bit too enthusiastically. Jason furrowed his brow as Orion began to laugh harder, and it took a lot not to simply punt the small Pokémon standing next to him. Or, better yet, throw Orion on top of the roof and let both of them figure out a way down. If Cetus would actually concede to coming down in the first place, or at least wouldn’t try to strike Jason if the young man attempted to crawl up there and retrieve him. ”You know what? Fine,” Jason said after a long moment of thought, turning and tromping towards the nearby shed. “You can stay up there all day for all I care, cause I’m not breaking my neck to come up there anyway! ‘Sides, I got eggs to take care of!” Cetus seemed rather happy with this, scuttling back as so he was higher upon the roof and wouldn’t actually slide off. At least it wasn’t actually hot out and had just recently rained, otherwise Jason might be concerned that the water type would overheat. But with Cetus having spent most of his time in the pond upon his arrival to the farm, Jason figured he could use the expertise. His father’s friend had said they received the Pokémon from a friend who couldn’t take all the biting and overall terror that came with Cetus — which was comical, considering his father’s friends were and still are the stereotypical bikers he might have seen on tv, yet they were afraid of a small turtle like Pokémon —had offered this the Pokémon for part of his adventures. Jason enthusiastically said yes — but now he we thinking maybe he should have said no. Too late for that, now, though. What Jason was happy for, was the decently sized shed that came with the house. Most of it had tools to one side that were used to keep the house and whatnot in shape; the rest of the shed cleared out with makeshift beds for the Pokémon. Though, they seemed quite pointless, considering Cetus always slept in the pond while Den and Orion both slept inside the house (or more specifically, with him in his bed; he just hoped Denar wasn’t like that if and when she fully evolved; he wasn’t sure he could afford a bed that big nor that sturdy), but he figured getting things ready now versus later was the smarter plan. The eggs were easy to find, curled up in a large pile of blankets that Jason gleefully picked up to drag outside into the sunlight with Denar waiting for him in the doorway to the shed rather happily. ”Yeah, yeah, I know,” he muttered as he half waddled towards the pond with the Squirtle close behind, watching him curiously. Jason noted Orion attempting to scale the house via a beam for the porch, however chose to ignore it in favor of placing the bundle of eggs near the water’s edge. “There!” he said rather triumphantly as he stood erect. Denar seemed to inspect her eggs curiously, before seeming statisfied and half diving into the pond to enjoy it while Cetus was otherwise distracted. Cetus most certainly thought that this small pond was his, by all accounts, and so Denar tried to enjoy it the best she could whenever Cetus decided he wanted something else to do rather than laze about and ‘protect’ his pond. But all things considered, even with the hellish Pokémon he had, today was looking to be a pretty good day. What else could go wrong? |
